In reality - 'nothing' the public masses didn't 'suspect'/haven't suspected since we were of an age to understand the continual corruption/political lies and more lies of our politicians/political systems wherever we live in the western world + the withdrawal of the peoples rights of freedom/debate on a massive scale - the abuse/limitations of allowed (supposed) democracy - the political 'implementing' of George Orwell's prediction book....Big Brother 1984 (written in1947)....as has happened....as anyone bothering to read that book will see.
The public being under 'mass' political surveillance has been common knowledge for the last 40yrs....all Snowden did was to 'confirm' those public suspicions.
The Internet has been a 'curse' for 'all' political systems throughout the world - its brought governments down (as has happened)....who 'thought' they were forever safe - and that frightened the worlds political systems....'they' then upgrading (beyond public acceptance) the political abuse against the people masses....to what was exposed by Snowden.
Every political system does/has been spying on the political opposition/public masses since we were 'all born' - (again) all Snowden did was to confirm our suspicions.
People (stupidly) think the ermmm....cold war is over....well it never was - the spying etc just carried on. The UK has the 2nd largest/most sophisticated 'spying network/technology' in the western world - and its been operational since the end of WW2 - and at one time far in advance of the US.
Is it right or wrong - it doesn't matter - 'we' the public will 'never ever' have a say on 'how we' are treated by our political masters....the peoples right for democracy - and to be governed democratically was 'dumped/abandoned' by these political carpetbaggers 40+yrs ago...'we will all' do as we are told by our political regimes....or else.!!
The passing recently of 'new' statute legislation....penalty fining people involved in political protest (5.000) wasn't even 'noticed by the people masses - but being 'implemented' by 'all' political systems....'that officially' ending the people masses democratic right of political protest....+ any form of 'true democracy'.!!
Democracy is a 'meaningless' word in todays political world - 'we' never really had it - and whatever 'was on offer' has now been taken away....forever.
I think that Edward Snowden proved that some of the craziest conspiracy theories are actually true. Is it possible that your government could be spying on everything you say? ..... Yes.
