The crash of Flight 11 into 1 World Trade Center (the North Tower) was not broadcast live by any network or anyone else. It was however caught on film by two French documenatary film makers, the Naudet brothers who just happened to be in the right place at the right time with camera rolling.
By the time of the second crash, that of Flight 175 into 2 World Trade Center (South Tower) every camera in New York and New Jersey was aimed at the World Trade Center and every network and local TV channel was covering the events live because of the first impact of Flight 11.
It wasn't all live. I think that people noticed what was happening and started to film on mobile phones, and there would have been CCTV, and after the first crash they would have got news crews down there really quick.
The day it happened, my eldest brother was visiting and he called my mum to say to watch the TV and it was being broadcast over here in the UK.
I often see news crews around the local courthouse when nothing is happening.
The World Trade Center had extremely important people going in and out on a daily basis. It would just make sense that news people would be around hoping to find a story.
However, I believe that the first videos and photos were done by ordinary people.
They didn't until the first plane hit. When that happened they started reporting it. That's how they captured the other crash and the collapse. It was a huge event and they had to keep reporting it.
What caused CNN and other news agencies to broadcast the plane crash live on that day or did CNN and other news agencies get the live video feed from a T.V source or CCTV camera?
