Has Tony Blair got it right?

No. It's a symptom of war, in the way that a weakened person who catches 'flu often dies, but a healthy person can shake it off.

Religious extremism exists everywhere, and is ready to pounce anywhere, exploiting a failed political situation. The ultimate cure is enlightenment, but in an impending war, there is no time for that. Then, there must be a rapid return to political health before the place goes under. Politically, the Middle East is a pretty toxic place right now.

The reason Tony Blair is perhaps the worst peace envoy since Chamberlain and von Ribbentrop, despite his generous low tax renumeration (doesn't that ring a bell!) is that he hardly left the UK in political health during his time as PM. It is still controlled by Special Advisers, paid for by the taxpayer but accountable only to themselves, who are being secretly lobbied by undeclared interests, while our elected representatives are bullied and whipped through the lobbies to do as they are told or else. He can hardly lecture Libya, Egypt, Syria or Iran about political probity, and really the UN should find a peace envoy who can.

People like Tony Blair cause wars. He lied to Parliament on the subject of "weapons of mass destruction" in Iraq. Two wars and economic sanctions killed 1 million people and now there is a raging civil war in Iraq

No, Politics created violence, Politics created terrorism.

Remember Al-Qaeda was trained, and funded by the CIA, and MI-6 to fight the Soviets, so we created well-armed, well-trained Muslim-terrorists.

Even now, CIA, and MI-6 told Syrians to start fighting, that Western-help would come, when that help didn't show, Al-Qaeda stepped in.

And it happens over, and over, Western Secret Agents getting involved, then not following through on their promises, and terrorists 'cleaning up' after us.

" Religious extremism causes wars"...........Jeezzee...Do we need a university education and a (washed up) political career to tell us that ??

May be right it too late too less useful may be for repentance and writing memoirs

According to some newspaper reports today, Tony Blair believes that religious extremism is often a cause of war.

Is the catholic ex-PM, who invaded Iraq whilst in power, finally right?
