Do you now distrust news stories about huge events?

Is it obvious to you that media is nothing but an invisible funnel for desired human reactions?

.

I distrust anything I read, especially things like the infantile "end of the world" and Zombies. It seems astonishing how seemingly Intelligent people can fall for them.?

Of course there are people such as the BBC you can count on to only bring us the truth. The same as they did during the war.

I distrust all news stories until I've verified them in a variety of other sources.

I've never thought the media to be nothing but an invisible funnel for desired human reactions. It's more than manipulative, and not very invisible.

To a degree, yes. However, it is usually possible to ferret out the truth.

The media showed themselves extraordinarily irresponsible in covering the Newtown tragedy, reporting erroneous information all day long. They could at least wait to confirm the facts before broadcasting them.

And in the Portland mall shooting, the media almost totally blacked out the fact that the killer with the AR-15 was stopped by a shopper with a handgun. This omission was certainly motivated by an anti-gun prejudice. Don't let anybody know that guns can save lives.

These are only a couple of examples. I always try to keep the media's biases in mind.

But as I said, it is usually possible to learn the facts if you work at finding them.

I distrust American mainstream news reporting about everything. There is much propaganda in the news. American news is inaccurate, biased towards particular political agenda, sensationalized, doctored, and very selective in its reporting. I do not trust any mainstream news. If I want updates on American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelorette, or news about some celebrity or professional athlete, I watch the mainstream news (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, FOX, etc). Otherwise I don't depend on it.

If I want real, unbiased, comprehensive news reporting about local and international events I turn to the internet/

I always thought that the person that asks you a lot of personal type questions are the very same that go into some sort of reporting. They almost always love to 'Dish the Dirt" They do however try to keep their own business to themselves. They recently told of gun owners, leaving a map to just where they live. They did not like it too much when their names and addresses were posted in return, too F----ng bad! I never liked a person of little life or street experience commenting and asking leading questions of what and where they have no common sense or common decency!

yes, think of all the lies they have been caught in, think of the ways they manipulate so called news or events to attempt to sway public opinion, (this is propaganda), no truth required for propaganda. Why would they do this? I think that is pretty obvious. They don't want you to think for yourself, they want you to think what they want you to think. When they are not pushing their propaganda, they are pushing filth and immorality, when they are not doing these things they are pushing commercial sales pitches, and some extremely stupid ones at that. I think the media as a whole has been usurped and deployed as a tool to suit the whims of the owners of the media. Do you know who these people are?? I will let you do the work but heres a hint. They are a tribe, their name starts with a J and ends with ews.

I know enough now not to trust anything the media says until 24-48 hours after an event (like the Newtown shootings) because they say ANYTHING, no matter how unsubstantiated, just to be first saying something.

Nothing stopping people from checking out the story via several news groups.

Best way to get a less fixated view.

I came to that realization when JFK was assassinated. It pretty much proved you can fool all of the people all of the time or just shove it down their throats.
