Why would they hold you hostage? Just don't do stupid things, don't wander around in areas you aren't familiar with and don't get drunk and start being an idiot. Thousands of people visit every year with no problems what so ever.

Ok so I'm going to the Dominican Republic and since I'm going over there they might hold me hostage for money and the police force is not well over there I'm scared of being held hostage it happens a lot over there and I'm not going to a resort
