Anyone famous can have enemies for various reasons.

Lennon was killed by Mark David Chapman who was nuts. He was a "born again xian" who was upset that Lennon said the Beatles were bigger than jesus. but that was probably just an excuse. He had a "hit list" he didn't actually get to.

I liked John Lennon and all that he stood for.

However...

John Lennon was murdered because he was stupid! He was one of the most famous people in the world. Yet, he made a decision to go walking around the streets of New York. He didn't even have bodyguards. What made it worse was that he did this repeatedly. That daily routine made it easy for every nut job in the city to whack him. I'm surprised that he lived as long as he did.

It didn't feel good to say that, but someone needed to.

There is a price to pay for celebrity and fame. Delusional lunatics are everywhere.
