What happened to the rage we had during Vietnam War...?

People completely burned themselves out back then, protesting the Viet war and many other things. The burnout has been passed down the generations. I would be willing to bet, however, that the next generation rising up after the Millennials wil get all protesty about these wars. We don't have the draft, yet all kinds of "tricks" are played to get the young signed up and sent.

It died a natural death - after years of public pointless protests 'that didn't affect' the US policy in Vietnam....the only reason 'that war ended' was because....it became far to expensive (trillions+) to sustain any longer.

Protests only last until the protesters realise there actions are not being listened to by governments - they being just politically ignored etc....so these protests are scaled down and eventually abandoned. Protesters can only bang-there-heads against the political brick wall....for so long.!!

Whilst the Vietnam war was a very unpopular war with the public - especially those being/going to be drafted - it was just a political 'cannon fodder' policy decision to sacrifice those 10's of 1000's of service people (killed/injured) for a 'lost cause'....from day one.!!

The above political policies 'continued' with Iraq/Afghanistan (12+yrs)....although less deaths and injuries etc....BUT still (again) political policy 'cannon fodder' for 'absolutely nothing gained' + other 'pointless adventures' where also....nothing was gained.!!

Our western governments have 'full control' of 'us' (peoples)....political statute laws have 'already' been implemented to 'curb any protest action' from the public....on any issues (check it out) - any chance of (so-called) mass peoples democracy....has been politically withdrawn - not that 'we' had any form of (true) democracy to begin with....just a peoples dream of political fairness and 'our needs and wants' (so-called democracy) attended to by our elected governments - 'something' thats 'never ever happened' during our currant lifetimes on this planet....no matter wherever we live in the world.!!

Our western political systems have....finally won - we will 'all' do as we are told....or else - as is being proved every single day when the public is politically held to account for ''what it says and what it does'....which equals political dictatorship governing.!!.!!

That was actually the late 60s and early 70s when people were protesting Vietnam.

Maybe because the Iraq and Afghanistan wars have been going on for so long people are tired of protesting. I do remember people protesting the Iraq war. Combat troops have already pulled out of Iraq. The Afghanistan war is winding down also. I believe US combat troops are supposed to pull out of Afghanistan this year.

The rage was crushed. Utterly crushed.

The 1968 Democratic National Convention killed the 60's. Nixon's re-election in '72 and the Kent State massacre. Bobby Kennedy's assassination. The consumer-whore society of the 80's. It all contributed.

The good guys lost in the 60's. The government won. That's why nobody fights today, because we're just pissing in the wind.

There were huge protests over going to war with Iraq after 9/11.

However the prevailing opinion at the time was "if you don't support your president, you're a liberal, terrorist, scum bag." This verbal bullying from a certain media channel, was enough to prevent many from saying anything, even as Iraq quickly proved to be nothing but one large clusterf*ck starting with the complete lack of body armor for our front line troops.

The then non 1% believed they would be heard.

But then we dont know what the consequences would have been without the protests.

Some were talking of nuclear attacks at the time f*s.

1969: MILLIONS

march in US Vietnam Moratorium

Millions marched against the Vietnam War outside the White House.

And now Israel rules :

'55 of the 58 Senators who are co-sponsors of this pro-war bill have received money from AIPAC totaling $7.3 million'

Turned out the people filled with "rage" were a minority of LOUD activists who did NOT represent mainstream America. With the help of the biased left-wing media, which supported their anti-American, pro-Communist agenda, they drowned out the majority of the Americans who never supported them. In the early 80s mainstream America finally reacted, and there was a huge backlash against the activists and their tactics. Today mainstream America does not want to see a return to the bad-ol' days of manufactured high-drama, and refuses to support such antics.

The venue changed. The internet is the new sit in. If you didn't hear the rage, you weren't listening.

Video games and the me generation combined with several thousand new laws.

No , we have gained back our respect for the young men that fight so we can say what we want.

Remember back in the late 70s during the Vietnam war when people were protesting, going to the capital, demanding an end to the war, sit-ins etc...That was an unjust war and people back than showed their dissatisfaction with the war. Fast forward 30+ years and same thing is happening with all these unjust wars in the Middle East yet no one is speaking out against them. Have we lost our spirit to speak out?
