In Britain we don't have gun stores on every street corner. Astonishing as it is for the asker to believe.At 68 I have never handled a gun.Shock and awe. Yet we don't feel enslaved. Americans seem to eat drink and breath guns. Give them up for a while and see if your life is any different.
In Britain we cant have a gun for personal protection. The very few people allowed a licence face massive controls. For instance guns and ammunition have to be kept completely under separate lock and key. However I admit more guns are coming in illegally with so much immigration.
I do however see what the asker is trying to say. I understand in some states there is no checks or permits at all ?
Some good old boys policy are still in effect. Winking and nodding a permit to billy, bob, bart or jimmy or joe brother in law etc..They usually deny a permit/license to a deserving gent, but was put in the spotlight and dragged across a local media
Background checks are important and need to be enforced in all states. just because a lot of criminals buy their guns illegally it doesn't mean we should just remove the law. That's like saying we should remove speed limits, because people who want to speed will do it regardless of the law.

if you have a gun permit you are going to pass the background check so i think its a waste of time now if a gun store is selling guns to people who don't have permits they need to be shut down
