The same alignment happens harmlessly every year.
Even if there were an exact line up, nothing would happen. Gravity doesn't magically increase when one object passes in front of another. Do you notice any changes when an eclipse happens?
Everything about the 2012 doomsday is delusion, lies or a deliberate hoax. And that really means everything. 21st December will be just another day.

The Earth, Sun and whatever distant point in the galaxy you care to name, line up regularly. Come on now. This is basic Astronomy and Geometry.
The whole 2012 prophecy is based on someone pointing to the calendar on your wall, and exclaiming "Hey look! The last day is 12/31/2012 so that must mean it's the end of the world!"
Sure they're using the Mayan calendar instead of the Kitty Calendar from Hallmark but it's equally as valid.
The prophecy ignores the fact that the Mayans don't use the same calendar system as we do - how could they? Their calendar system predates ours by over 1000 years. So yes, the Mayan calendar ends on a date that corresponds to 12/21/2012 but the real reason is because in the Mayan system, that marks the end of their Great Cycle, a period of time that lasts roughly 10,000 years. 12/21/2012 may be the end of the current Great Cycle, but according to the Mayan's writings (which the prophets won't tell you about) say the net one starts the next day.
What do you feel inside? REALLY FEEL! I will say NO only some @hit is gonna happen since it has too. I look at it this way, we as a people trashed this planet, messed up the air, sucked out the blood; oil and even our water is messed up.
So, since the SUN is at its peak its heating up this planet, since theres no OIL to help COOL the planet it gets hotter and more quakes; expands. And with the socalled special people who keep messing with the weather system now our magneted feild is at its low so again were heated up.
Thats just one, next theres the UFO's who could be coming by way of Planet X, WW3 and USA going broke! Other than that its all good!
Better to smile and enjoy what is to come if it comes. Somehow I FEEL we spent what time we had and now its time to GROW or DIE so another way of life has its chance.
Then again the world was gonna end in 2000 and nothing happened. If anything happens its gonna be the way we VALUE what life we have and the chance to do what is RIGHT and not by what people tells us what is right.
You know by FEELINGS, and the nags that come to tell you you are doing something wrong. There is no such thing as being PERFECT, just knowing when you are doing something wrong you can change yourself.
If the world doesn't end in December, the next people that starts another doomsday scare will get their head bashed in. People are sick and tired of the doomsday BS.
you guys are so funny- I read all the answers and I really like Diego the best- he got insight- ho ho ho ho- They have been saying the world would end in the 70s- 80s 90s 2000- and so forth. well most of us are still here. how many Billions of human beings, that destroy the earth- but it hasn't happened yet.
