Too much alcohol every day is of course more dangerous than taking ecstacy every now and then. X is dangerous but the thing is - teens dying of alcohol overdoses (very common) are not reported by the media, however dying because of an illegal drug does catch the attention of the media.
Dark Avenger - legality has absolutely nothing to do with danger. Cannabis, for example, is illegal in most places but is generally a lot safer for both the consumer and the public than alcohol.
What do you mean, "that kind of rubbish"? The nurse was telling the truth - you may not like it, but it's a fact, based on decades of scientific study, rather than the hear-say evidence supporters of drug use spout.
No-one ever died from having a glass of wine. I've known people die from taking one Ecstasy tablet, because of the amount of damage it did. When people become addicted to, or reliant on, alcohol it causes just as many social problems as drug use, but Ecstasy is not only far more addictive (i.e. not everyone who drinks is an addict, but most people who take Ecstasy are in one form or another), but does far more damage even before it becomes addictive.
The only reason more deaths are caused by alcohol is because more people drink than take drugs. If the Ecstasy use was as high as the number of people who drink, drug-related deaths would be the higher of the two.
Both are poisons, neither are healthy.
But anything taken in excess is dangerous for your health, including food.
Only moderation is healthy.
If you only take exstacy or cocaine once every few months, this will not do you too much harm, even though these drugs are stronger than alcohol.
The same if you only drink alcohol in moderation, which means no more than two or three beers a week, or a couple of glasses of wine.
Taken in excess, exstacy is terrible for your brain, alcohol also but to a lesser extent.
Cocaine is terrible for your psychological well being.
Heroine, morphine and crack, and most other class A drugs have no positive things to say about them whatsoever. Show me a happy junkie and I'll show you a liar !
Even dabbling with such drugs is total stupidity !
Alcohol causes by far the most deaths in society, and bears the highest social costs too, but that is because it is legal, and there are not enough educational warnings given about the dangers that this poison presents.
The very powerful alcohol industry lobby strenuously resists this.
If they were treated like tobacco companies, and affected people were allowed to sue them in court for the problems which alcohol has caused them, this industry would go bankrupt overnight !
I never heard anyone outright dying from a half bottle of wine, but I did know a girl who died from ecstacy.
I'm sure alcohol has caused more harm overall, but that's because it's much more widely used and has been around over the ages.
Well, in general I think ecstacy is more dangerous.. but when you say half a bottle of wine every night and taking ecstacy once every few months.. it's hard to decide.
This is why she is a medical professional. She actually knows what ecstacy does. You should pay attention to her. People have all sorts of horrible psychological and physical damage from it. Drinking wine in moderation, less than half a bottle a night is recommended, is harmless.
Well drinking half a bottle doesn't sound so bad compared to taking ecstasy. It's basically a real damaging drug, although u may say alcohol is also drugs. But the point is, if you can control alcohol intake, half a bottle perday, then thats fine. Take one pill and you get wild, uncontrolled
If you knew exactly what Ecstasy is made of including some very dangerous chemicals that can be very toxic your medical adviser got it exactly right and alcohol in general is a great deal more pure than anything that comes in a tablet that was made in someones back shed.
alcohol is the worst if abused effects every part of your body and does the most damage.
Alcohol does more physical damage than even injected heroin.
Ecstasy has more potential for psychological damage.
I ask because I've just had an interesting conversation with a nurse. I asked her which is worse, drinking half a bottle of wine every night or taking ecstacy once every couple of months. She said the ecstacy will do more damage to the body. Quite frankly you expect to hear that kind of rubbish from politicians or the police but not from a so called medical professional. What's your opinion?
I would say alcohol. At least alchohol is a legal drug when your 21. Ex is not.
Personal experience leads me to conclude that alcohol is infinitely more dangerous and damaging.
Both are dangerous.
People die.
