Back in 2012 Obama got a law about healthcare passed.
Under this law, nearly everyone is required to have healthcare. This can be provided by your employer, your parents (if you're under 26), by the state (such as California's "Covered" program) or by the federal government. This is in addition to Medicare which was already being provided to very low income families.
Despite the law being based on a similar program that was designed and implemented by Mitt Romney in Massachusetts (remember him? he was the Republican candidate for president back in 2012) Republicans hate the healthcare law and have tried no fewer than 42 times to repeal it - despite the Supreme Court ruling that the law is valid and constitutional.
Anyways, the website designed to help people sign up for health care rolled out late last year and was an unmitigated disaster. The website was not ready and was not working. The government had to bring in a lot of contractors to fix it (which I'm sure was not cheap) and since then millions of people have enrolled for coverage.
However it remains to be seen just how successful the overall program is going to be since it's suddenly going to introduce some 30 million new customers to doctors and clinics around the country.
It's a scam which forces millions of American to pay more for worse health insurance.
