Why is it so hard to get hired?

Tailor resumes to each company your applying at, learn about the company your seeking employment from, practice interviewing. Resumes won't get you hired, interviews do.

You need to convince a manager to hire you first, then worry about the application as just a formality.

First of all some companies hire online and will not consider CV's so make sure you know how the company recruits and apply in the correct way. Don't call if you don't hear back from a CV, you will only irritate the recruiter.

There is also an issue that I think you need to consider but I suspect you won't like. From your description above it appears you look down on some other people. That could be coming across in your interviews and putting recruiters off. Just be aware of it.

You have nothing to offer an employer. With knowledge, wisdom, and proper experience, it's not difficult to find employment.

staff turnover within the retail sector is extremely high, this should give you hope

the numbers are in your favour, 2/3 letters a days is pretty low, given the number of retailers

if your setting your sights high then expect dissappointment

start low and use that opportunity as a stepping stone, these tactics are no different, in good or bad times

dont forget the basics of body language, what you can see, others can too

appear approachable and confident, then simply sell yourself as the best candidate, you can sell ?

Filling out applications is a waste of time. No one looks at them.

You need to convince a manager to hire you first, then worry about the application as just a formality.

Unfortunately it's more about WHO you know - not WHAT you know.

I have been filling out 3-5 applications per day in over a 2 month span. I take time to write my cover letters, when I submit the applications, I give the company's a week or so to review it and then if I don't get a call, I usually take the initiate to call them OR I will go inside the stores and show my face, this way they see that I am interested

I practice my interview questions in the mirror. I don't slouch in the interviews, I speak eloquently but not robotic, but with ease and fluidity. I show assertiveness, I make eye contact but not in a creepy way. I dress appropriately. I always look polished, a nice slicked back hair do, not too much make up, and simple jewelry.

With all that, I still don't get picked. Yet when I go into some of these stores, I see girls there with loud jewelry and inappropriate hairstyles and tattoos all over their bodies and a bunch of piercings and not looking professional at all. Most times they don't even greet the customers or act like they are on a job. Yet they get the job. This is pissing me off because I don't ever behave like that when I have worked in the past. Yet I get a harder time getting hired.

PS. I've never been fired from a job, rarely late, and never had a manager spoke anything negative about me.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to get hired?

PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST ANYTHING IMMORAL BECAUSE IM NOT ABOUT THAT!!!!!!! IM AN OLD SCHOOL TYPE OF GIRL.

Thank you! :)
