Actually not. West Bengal has good culture , educational and economic back ground. But the main problem of West Bengal in current age is , it's bad politics and Union Movements. Every single party not interested to bring some new industries, development programmes etc. All parties only doing Vote-bank politics there. So the current economic situation seems poor and miser .
State is poor in all aspects , law and order, civic sense, work culture , infrastructure and that can not be built by CMs like mamta
it claims to culture but starves due to lack of agriculture , while Punjab has agriculture but less of culture
It is poor but there are worse states.New and big investments are immediately required.

This "poor" remark has been passed one my yahoo friend while asserting why West Bengal and Ms. Banerjee (CM) comes many of the news.
