Did you bring back the sofa to them? I wouldn’t be afraid of them, nothing will happen. I wouldn’t settle for anything less than a refund.
Under the 'Sale of Goods Act' the sofa 'is not fit for purpose' That is you bought and paid for a new sofa in
good condition. Write to the store head office, if possibly to the managing director by name, giving them 7 days to refund your purchase price in full. If there is no response go to the Citizens Advice Bureau who will tell you how to sue the company in the County Court. www.citizensadvice.org.uk
As someone has already said I would contact your trading standings department of your local council. and leave it in their hands. The asker has quite rightly not given any clue to if it was a multi national or a private family owned shop. The latter are usually the best to deal with if the cost may be a little more.
Money back, no deals, no compromise, £700 in cash, no cheques, credit notes, luncheon vouchers or nectar points, £700 cash today.
I ordered Sofas and paid the full price £700 upfront (Like an idiot). They delivered one week late, and when delivery came it was a used Sofa that was ripped and damaged. The sofa was in terrible condition, I went down the shop and had a very bad argument with the salesman and he said he would discount the sofa £50 off and bring it in great condition the next day and that it was a very bad mistake on their behalf. So I gave them one final chance. The next day is today and the delivery was not made and no one is picking up the phone.
What can I do? Because this is actually really frustrating and I don't want to go down their because something may happen, they don't seem to be very intelligent or trustworthy.
Any help will be taken with gratitude.
Thanks!
