Romney's 2011 comments about FEMA being something that should be given to each state are killer... the eastern seaboard is not one state, we are a United States and the Federal Gov't is not a bad thing, it's a collective thing.
Romney never really differentiated himself from Bush and then Obama responded swiftly to Sandy (in contrast to Bush's lagging for Katrina).
Republican Gov Christie has practically endorsed Obama and showed that Obama works with the GOP when they are willing.
Sandy has also reminded the country (or at least the East) that climate change is real. Coal is not the answer, wind and solar are our future energies.
No effect on the candidates. Will have an effect on if people will be able to get to a voting machine in the states most affected by the hurricane.
I don;t believe the election date will be affected, and it seems to be something that will actually boost Obama as his deft leadership in this time of need contrasts sharply with Romney's previous public comments on the need to eliminate FEMA and make cuts to emergency responders.
actually i think it will because with the hurricane lots of flights have been cancelled and with all those flights being cancelled the president and the election will be rushed or shorter, but since they can't rush it i think they will take their time. so i think the hurricane will change the election
This is one hell of a curve ball thrown at the last minute, and many are still not sure of the exact effects it will have on the presidential election. Many agree that it may postpone the election, though. Sandy is hitting two important battleground states, Virginia and North Carolina. Do you think this will effect voter turnout positively or negatively? Will it matter since the storm isn't seriously effecting Ohio? How long do you think it will be before the election is officially over?
