It's not that there might be no reprisals against the gassing of Syrian citizens that's a problem. It's the fact that so much of the world seems to lack the will to act. This gives rulers like Assad and Kim Jong Un in North Korea - neither of whom signed onto the Convention On Chemical Weapons - the opportunity to act with impunity (without worry). Both Assad and Un are cozy with terrorists. Without world indignation coupled with some kind of military action, what's to stop either one of them from supplying gas to Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Hamas, etc.? I'm not in any kind of favor of the US marching troops into Syria but a short, quick slap at Assad is not "US involvement". The gassing of Syrian civilians is an atrocity that needs to be responded to. If the world doesn't put on its Big Boy Pants and do something now, we'll be paying a greater price later.

Planning for what to do when a rogue nation produces and uses chemical weapons should have been done years ago. It's absolutely asinine to wait until a population is gassed and then have to go through weeks of discussions and meeting about what to do about it. In the case of something as unbelievably cruel as using chemical weapons, retribution should be strong and swift.

Then agreements would have to be made and I don't see Assad or Obama agreeing on anything. They both are extremely bull-headed. But someone better make a decision 3 Russian Warships are almost into the Persian Gulf, where 3 American Warships have moved in closer to Syria.

And Yes Assad will do this again, unless the U.N. intervenes and I do not see that either would would respect what the U.N. may have to say.

Well, if WE do anything it must be Hard-pressed, not a light touch like Obama is speaking of. Obama should have had congress and the senate as well as our Warships on stand-by, all agree and then make the announcement.. If we had the General Norman Swarscoff (not sure spelled correctly) . who went into Kuwait and ran Saddam and his tanks, and military out of that Country in 11 days he took out the bombers, the helicopters and then hit the former Iraq dictator before he knew what happened, and we watched it as it happened on T.V. He did not do much talking he reacted. Sad to say he passed away recently. Too much and a little bit of action doesn't amount too much!

He might continue the deadly attacks but we can't do anything about it until the U.S. decides to attack. The U.S. also has to plan it out carefully so nothing goes awry but don't worry sooner or later America will do something to stop the deadly bombing. America will bring justice unto those who died of the deadly bombings sooner or later.

Of course, Bashar is an asshole but lets not forget the last time America tried to help.... It took over Afghanistan and Iraq and its killing civilians

The UN must negotiate with the Syrian government. It is the only way to end the conflict.

Where is the rest of the world on this one?

Canada, Australia, Europe, S.America?

Nothing.

Would Bashar Al-Assad try to form an Empire in Syria? Would he continue his deadly attacks on his own people again? We can't just forget about the 1400 people he killed.. We have to do SOMETHING.. Right?
