What is it like being at a concert?

Personally I find it incredible dull, I run a website for a band so go backstage quite a bit. There's all the roadies putting things away, the band are basically getting ready to go home, there's a few family members there, a few friends or various guests come in, they just all stand around chatting, it's not as glamorous as it sounds. The back stage areas are quite basic and tatty. You could be chatting to a band member and the tour manager just interrupts and takes them off somewhere, or just tells them its time to go. The Tour Manager rules, what he says goes.

I can only remember bits and pieces.

Loud and crowded.

They say you should write what you know.

So if you want to know what it's like to go backstage at a concert, I'd recommend you go backstage at a concert. It shouldn't be that hard to get a backstage pass to a small local band. Tell them you'll write up their concert for a local paper, and there you go.

I'm trying to write a book and it has a scene where the characters goes backstage. I've never been to a concert so that's why i'm asking. But here are some of the questions I need that needs be answered:

1) If you have VIP passes, do you have to wait in line or do you just go in?

2) What goes on backstage during and after the show?

3) Where do the celebs hang out after the concert? Like do they have their own private dressing room or do they have to go to their bus or whatever?

THANK YOU for your time and can you give as much info as you can :)
