I think Trayvon Martin was savagely beating a man to death and that man defended himself.
I watched extensive coverage when the story first broke and was angered by the fact that the Florida police at the scene neglected to: (a) take Zimmerman's weapon (a standard practice); (b) send the gun the night of the shooting to ballistics and forensics; (b) issue a drug and alcohol test on the zealot Zimmerman; (c) take the shooter, Zimmerman, into custody for questioning and examination; (d) make note of the fact that Zimmerman was offered an examination by the medics on the scene (ambulance) and declined, claiming he was not hurt; or (e) question Zimmerman as a suspect, since he was NOT an official guard and had been in trouble for violence before (in a bar, against a police officer).
The killer was allowed to leave the scene, go to his brother and other family members to concoct a story and maybe have the brother or someone punch him (chain of evidence broken), and was not tested for alcohol even though he'd said he was "on a personal errand" and had been drinking when he had his previous arrest for assaulting a police officer.
Trayvon Martin could have been any of our own teens. The 17-year-old teenager had walked to a local 7-11 store to buy a bag of Skittles and a can of Arizona iced tea, talking on his cell phone with his 16-year-old girlfriend. Just the simple fact that the kid was talking on his cell phone should have alerted the hyper bigot Zimmerman that the young man might live in the community. Because the kid was black, he was profiled by the whackjob armed wannabe-cop Zimmerman, who decided he would stalk, then chase Trayvon, gun drawn. I firmly believe the screams on the neighbor's tape were those of Trayvon---two voice experts have already ruled out Zimmerman's voice and we now have a recording of Travon Martin's voice that the Prosecutor can use. I hope Zimmerman is found guilty of 2nd degree murder.
We wouldn't have a dead teenager & having this trial if:
1) Zimmerman had not been carrying a gun.
2) Zimmerman had remembered that he was a "neighborhood watch," not a police officer.
3) Zimmerman had followed the directions of the dispatcher & not pursued Martin.
He reacted in a way that Neighborhood Watch individuals are never supposed to react & then ignored the order to not pursue Martin. Because of that he instigated a confrontation that never had to happen and a 17 year old is dead & he is on trial. Extremely poor judgment with dire consequences. It didn’t have to happen that way.
I think the procecution will drag Zimmermas life through the mud and make him out to be a racist and Martin will be painted as an angel who never did any wrong. It will be a wonder if they can stick to the facts of the case and actually stay on point for this one.
In my opinion, I think I'll wait until ALL the evidence has been presented. I think I'll wait until the jury has considered all the facts, and rendered a verdict. MY opinion, without the facts, is totally worthless.
I think it is a tragedy that should never had happened. Zimmerman wasn't a cop he had a gun and was stalking a sixteen year old kid who was simply walking home after buying candy. The 911 calls are chilling because you hear a child's voice calling out for help.
There is very little we can know about it as one party is dead. We have the word of one side only.
It will be the trial next week. They will have to try and decide if Zimmerman was justified in killing the youth. They will have what evidence there is in court.
If this had been black on black it would never have made it this far
Agree with Druid. Dad was right if you have to shoot someone, make sure they can't testify against you.
I don't. It's of no Interest to me.
Whats your opinion???????????
