How did the man survive in just an air pocket?

There was more than enough oxygen in that air pocket to keep the gentleman alive. If this were not so, he would have died from a lack of oxygen.

Small is a relative term. It was small for seven days maybe. Apparently it was large enough or it was fiction. I imagine the air was concentrated though, a function of depth. News sources have more competition now, plus people are so information overloaded that the papers and radio are reporting myth and gross exaggeration as facts today. It used to be the tabloids, but now it's more main stream sources.

God had nothing to do with it. Periodically stories come out about someone who managed to find an airpocket and survives. Air simply was trapped and had nowhere to go, so when he emerged into the pocket, he had just enough to survive.

If God had a hand it, why didn't he keep the man safe in the first place? The man suffered like hell in that water.

It's possible there was a Mythbusters episode where they buried Adam in a casket.

Luck.

So not too long ago on the news there waz a story of a boat that had sunk with 9 people on board but one man had survived by finding a small air pocket and staying there for almost a week or so. My bf nd i had gotten into a debate about how this really works though. My bf says that the air pocket only had enough air in it to sustain a person for only a day or so, so he believes its a "miracle" from god that he lived. Me on the other hand does not believe in god and my theory is that the water had released oxygen into the air, although im not sure if this is possible. But i do believe there has to be a scientific way that he was able to survive, does anyone have any theories or thoughts on this situation?
