They do & they have huge drawers full of items plus plastic tubs full of lost and found items. They do get rid of clothing items because they take up too much space after a period of time..
I lost my sunglasses once at walmart & they had over a thousand pairs of sunglasses in the lost and found for me to rummage though -- there was 2 huge drawers , plus another Rubbermaid tub full of sunglasses & I don't believe all those glasses were from the current year. There were way too many glasses. No, I didn't get my glasses back -- I gave up.
It's worth a shot - go to walmart & inquire.

Nobody keeps lost and found items for a "few years." Even a Walmart store wouldn't have enough space to do that. At best they might have hung on to it for a month before giving it the finder.
why were you CARRYING it in your hand instead of wearing it ? You say it slipped OUT OF YOUR HAND...that can lead to security officer drawing wrong conclusion.
Check your local pawn shops.
A few years ago I was a child and had a gold bracelet that my dad have me before he died and one day I had it on and went to walmart and it slipped out of my hand without knowing because I had a winter coat on and y question is what does walmart do to items that have no owner or what can I do to get it back. The bracelet had my name engraved on it. But on the other hand someone could have took it
