I don't want to make it worse but reading current events & not a day goes by when there isn't a new reason to feel apprehensive.
The Home Office is owed millions & can't seem to deport illegal immigrants, criminals etc fast enough.
The police are cracking under the strain of new leaner budgets, shortly many front line & experienced officers will have to go.
The NHS can have as many enquiries & investigations as it likes, patient care is still at risk.
And to cap it all The Roma, who have been besieging France, attacking, robbing & thieving, will arrive ad hock without restriction or limits come January.
A few hanging about in Marble Arch making a nuisance of themselves will look like a picnic compared to the deluge who might arrive next year.
Yes I fear for our countrys ability to cope in the coming years.
Prisons, schools, hospital spaces etc are inadequate, the infrastructure does not match gross population.
Even the fiercest British critics of the EU are astonished by the speed at which things are moving. Parliamentary rebellions over Europe are becoming easier and easier to organise. Euroscepticism is hardening in the Conservative Party, in much the same way as social conservatism has gone from being a powerful current in America’s Republican Party to an intolerant orthodoxy. The United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP), which wants to leave the EU, has abruptly moved from the political margins to the mainstream. A referendum on Britain’s membership of the EU now seems a matter of timing.
Your premise is false. You're believing or over blowing every bad story
that's out there. Don't forget how old this country is and what sort
of difficulties it's faced in it's history. Immigration is a political hot
potato at the moment. It gets lots of press, whips up hysteria. In the
scheme of things it's actual threat is non existent. There are more serious
global issues which involve sustainable living on a planet that's
under for ever increasing stress. 7 billion and growing …..countries need
more energy. More resources will be needed from an Earth that's finite.
Yes - plenty of reasons.!!
And the 'bad news is'....its all too late now - what we have now is the 'politically demanded norm....forced on the peoples' of this county - who never voted for 'mass uncontrolled immigration'....from 'wherever'- and this issue is now politically enshrined in stone on the statue books of this country (UK) - together with these 'ridiculous' one sided PC/HR rulings which are the 'curse' of our daily lives.!!
Our governments/politicians over the last 50yrs have sold-out-this-country and 'all' its history/culture etc chasing a 'flawed/failed Ideology' of multiculturalism....that has damaged this country....'beyond repair'.
The UK will become the 1st western immigrant controlled country in the western world within 80-100yrs....the massive-massive amount of immigration breeding and the low 'homeland' birth rate will end the indigenous english peoples control of 'their own' country....and our elected governments politicians (past and present) are soley responsible for this outrage.
Those that say...rubbish - it won't happen - just wait and see - the signs are all around us....even now.!!
The most 'damming thing' regarding this out of control huge problem is.....we the 'indigenous english peoples' allowed it all to happen....without any mass protest or rebellion against our governments/politicians....its 'our fault' for the 'none action attitude we took' against the ending of the UK and all it stood for over 1000's of years.
I was watching a programme on the German car industry last night. They featured one English bloke who got the bombed-out Volkswagen factory up and running under umbrellas propped up with bits of wood in order to show the Germans there was a better way of doing things than Hitler's way. They then fast-forwarded sixty years and interviewed an executive of Volkswagen Group, which had by then bought up Bentley, one of the oldest and most revered British car marques. In heavily accented English, he congratulated the workers in Crewe for creating a truly beautiful machine with exquisite leatherwork. The most successful mass-market British car being made now, in Cowley near Oxford, is the MINI. Not the pretty little Issigonis-designed one of 1959, but the giant size version designed and built by BMW. The centre of the truly British car industry is now in my home town of Malvern in rural Worcestershire, where its profitable and thriving sports car manufacturer was until March of this year run by a cousin of the village blacksmith, and is now headed by a tin shop employee who worked his way to the top.
Where would we be without the Poles, if our pipes sprung a leak in the middle of the night, or we got toothache? Where would we be without the little Indian corner shop if we wanted some biccywix late on a Sunday night? And it goes on and on. I used to be proud of our broadcasting and TV, but had to admit yesterday that the Arab network Al Jazeera does the news much better these days than the BBC.
All we seem good for these days, outside Malvern, is providing asylums for Russian oligarchs and Romanian pickpockets. The true Brits have turned stupidity into a national pastime. Go outside any city nightclub after midnight on payday, or watch the way they hand over their cash to global corporate megabarons in the name of Premier League football and you can see what we have become, and what our values are, left to ourselves. Consider the literacy of the educated and enlightened True Brit when perusing the supermarkets with a choice of 'Heat', 'Chat' and 'Hello' all in earnest debate about some celebrity's beach paunch and their current choice of cheating mate.
Yes, we can and should patrol our borders rather better than we are prepared to pay for right now. All very well privatising it to white van outfits hiring dodgy East European cowboys on zero hour contracts paying whatever can be levered out of the CEO's bonus, but it's not doing the job we few who are not stupid expect of it. It seems we have better ways to spend public money.
I suppose Greece was once the philosophical hub of the world, and now it is an economic basket case. Britian, which once had the grandest empire in the world, has become decadent, and it might take us a few hundred years to pull us back round.
The best Britain can hope for is to retire into its dotage, muddle on, make do and mend, and get by somehow. To do this, we need still to protect this hobbling geriatric from being robbed by predators.
Thank God the military still owe their allegiance to the Queen and not to Parliament!
As a self described anglophile It saddens me to say that Britain's best days are behind it. Like many other countries, Britain is simply not sustainable and with the huge influx of peasants, Britain is gaining a peasant mentality. Ever more socialism and ruin.
The same forces are at work in the USA and it is all orchestrated by the elites that think the earth will be a greater place if we all get by with very little, have less freedom, or human rights like in China. Prosperity will not be tolerated unless you are in the ruling class.
I think if the Government doesn't start listening to average Joe public and act on what they hear then I fear for us all. They are driving ordinary working people further and further out of London with high rents and no affordable housing, Council and Housing Association properties are only full of incomers.
Who will do the ordinary jobs when everyone's moved to the midlands. Not the immigrants who can't speak a word of English. They don't seem to realise Postal workers, Bus Drivers and NHS workers need somewhere to live and raise families,
Me too. I think there is, i mean theres a reason lots of big wigs in the financial industry have fled elsewhere. I don't anythings going to improve by that much and they know that so they keep over hyping little things to distract us like the royal wedding and baby to make us think it benefits us all but it doesn't. We are still stuck paying ever rising bills, taxes, insurance, mortages and all sort. So yes there is a lot of reason to fear it as its already starting to crumble as are our western cousins.
every one looks at the future with a sense of fear because its the great unknown
but lets get real here, we Brits today live a far better life than any other who lived before us
the Standard of living now for Joe public is far better now than it was at another time
its not that long ago that 40% of the homes in England where classed as slums and uninhabitable
the fact is life for most people has got better and better when I look at my home now and how my kids live we are miles better off and live a better life than my parents did
you might not like immigration but how do you combat a low birth rate of British people and a ageing population.
saying the government has sold us out is rubbish, how else could they deal with the problem.
It is time to pull out of the EU, stand up for the rights of British people and stop pandering to the complaints of foreigners and their customs. Send the buggers back, pull up the drawbridge, fill in the channel tunnel, put a cross of St. George on every building in England and make all immigrants eat pork sausages as a requirement for entry.
i just get this growing sense of dread a lot these days, maybe because im paying to much attention to the news.... but when i think of uncontrolled mass immigration on a small island like ours....it blows my mind and i truly fear for this country.
is everything going to work out alright? or is there troubles ahead for britain on the horizon ?
Immigration is not uncontrolled. We're quite a big island; not a small one.
The UK will evolve and change somewhat. Like it has always done. It will still be the same island.
What are these fears you have, specifically? I mean what? What sort of trouble could happen?
David H - you got one thing right that's for sure, indigenous ENGLISH peoples allowed it all to happen. You reap what you sow I'm afraid.
Yes - iits is called the EDL
Economies are cyclic. On the other hand, you do get cases like Japan where an economic downturn has lingered on for decades.
-Only when EVERYbody starts fearing for It ! :o
I share your fears.
