Check this out for a simple way to do long division:
http://www.showme.com/sh/?h=fhNea5i
Instead of doing 4 divided by 5 which is clearly going to be a decimal that is less than 1 but you could do 40 divided by 5 and then divide the answer by 10. Remember 5*8 = 40 so 40/5 = 8. Now divide by 10 and you get 0.8.
An easier way to do 4/5 is to multiply top and bottom of the fraction by 2 to make 8/10 which is of course 0.8 as dividing by 10 is just moving the decimal point one place to the left.
........0.8
5 ? 4.0000
........0
.......-------
........4 0
........4 0
.......-------
(The periods are just to provide alignment, as Yahoo! Answers truncates multiple spaces.)
(I tried to include the Unicode character 27CC (the long division sign), but I'm sure it won't display correctly on many of the Web browsers and operating systems that are being used to view this.)
5 goes into 4 zero times.
0 times 5 is zero.
4 minus 0 is 4.
5 goes into 40 eight times.
8 times 5 is 40.
40 minus 40 is zero.
STOP
The answer is above the equation: 0.8
4 / 5 is difficult to pictorialize but let me try to describe how. The 4 goes under the division sign and the five goes to the left of the sign. You can see that 4/5 is less than 1 so you know that the number must begin with a decimal point. So put that decimal point above the division sign to the right of the 4. Now put a zero next to the 4. Now, how many times does 5 go into 40? it goes in 8 time. So place the 8 next to the decimal point. Put 40 under the 4 and 0 and draw a line under the bottom 40 and subtract. In this problem 40 minus 40 is 0 so that is the answer: 0.8
= unhappy monkey, using the equation 4 [b] div 5[m] over co//mass x ag giving 1 :( .. remainder one monkey without a banana
give that.. b is banana, and m monkey, the co efficient being confined space, in relation to the mass relating to each individual monkey's weight over aggressive.
Don't they teach this sort of thing in school anymore?
I need to now how to do 4 divided by 5
