There's a difference between the cheque being cleared and you actually receiving the money.
If it was a scam it was money wise, nothing else.
Scam I have put cars and they have said the same to me.
Scam. Always a scam.
So I posted an ad on Craigslist to sell my car earlier today. I posted my phone number for contact info and soon got a text from an interested buyer. The guy said that the condition and the price was fine but he needed my address so he could send me a check through UPS. He said once his check cleared through my bank that he would have someone pick up the car. He was very specific about needing my home address so he could send the check by UPS. I was leery, as to me it seemed like a scam. I called a male friend to ask what he thought about it and he got me all scared. He said it could be a psycho who wanted my home address to come murder me. So we did all this digging to try to find out who this person was. He called the number and got no answer. I did a reverse phone number look up to find his name. That led to a dead end. The strange thing was it was a landline in Montana but the guy texted me from the number. Last I knew- you couldn't text from a landline. There was no name attached to it. All this info only scared me more and I went and stayed the night at my parents' house. The person was untraceable. Also, I asked the guy in a text where he was and he said New York. How could he text from New York with a landline phone from Montana? See why I got scared?
Anyway, I heard that this was actually a common scam. I'm a little freaked out about going home though, as the person could easily find me if he did a reverse phone number look up. So, is it a scam or a killer? What do you think?
