Why the conservatives cannot believe they are now in government?

Thatcher mostly won her second and third election because of the split in the opposition. The SDP gave her a boost, another reason why First Past the Post is inefficient and outdated. Blair did not give us the respite from Thatcherism many of us hoped for and Brown was vulnerable to the right-wing press both because he would not suck up to them ( I don't think he knew how) and he was too dour and serious. His policies in tackling the bank crash were admired and copied in the rest of the world (remember Obama's speech when he met the Queen. Although he could not praise a former PM in front of a current one, it was clear who he meant when he thanked them for saving the financial sector.)

Of course Brown's spending on our schools and hospitals and roads, even with the dodgy PPI, did not sit well with the Sun or the Mail and that was his downfall. People did not consider his policies, just what they read in the headlines, so maybe Cameron realises his coalition is only there by default.

The disillusioned Labour voters voted Lib Dem and let the Tories sneak in because Nick Clegg sold his soul to the devil and cosied up to Cameron to get his foot into Downing Street. Hopefully people will realise a vote for Lib Dem is a wasted vote and they'll never let this shower of sh*t back into power.

Blair would have won a 4th term, it was Brown the unelected who chucked it away.

Thus proving all political parties are useless, self-serving & corrupt.

Power corrupts & absolute power corrupts absolutely.

they played for time and relied on peoples memories fading of the last conservative government.

people said never again will we vote conservative, but having Tony Blair was their greatest asset.

he threw away a 170 seat majority with his wars and lies and his embrace of capitalism.
