Great Britain R.I.P.
If this is happening in the US, i can guarantee that they are NOT allowed to talk to you like that. There are labor laws in place that state that if anything is making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe in the workplace, it's considered harassment. It doesn't matter if you are here on a work visa or if you are a citizen, it's still illegal.
Also, depending on the severity of what he is threatening to do, it might cross a whole other line in terms of legality. If this is an issue, you need to contact your employers HR department and report whats going on - or find some other means of defending yourself with the law. No one deserves to be treated with such callousness.
He may be showing the authority granted to him as a manager when you gave him your trust to handle your paycheck. He may think the value for your pay is coming from him or the company, giving a false feeling of authority.
This is what you should know and when the time is right, share it with your manager: When you work, your time/energy and labor is CREATING the value for the pay you receive.
The paper dollars you get after cashing your check does NOT contain value before you work, but AFTER you work. YOU are paying yourself! Now...... how about a raise?
Note: Its mentally unhealthy to be calling something "money" when you are the one creating the value. Calling the paper dollars "money", will make it harder for you to understand how this system really works.
"Join a Union" - that's a typical response from Jack H. Fck the Unions, they have caused more than enough trouble in the past. Have a quiet but forceful word in the managers ear and I'll guarantee he will back off.
He is NOT allowed to talk to anyone in a demeaning manner, join a Union, learn how to record every comment contemporaneouslyy and have them fund you a tribunal, then you can watch the bastard squirm.
Labour didn't allow ALL of these immigrants BTW. the Tories were begging West Indians and asians to come here in the 50's to do the jobs deemed "Too Dirty" for the British worker, immigration has been healthy ever since and remains so to this day, EU membership also guarantees the right to work within member countries, lots of Brits do just that too...
For crying out loud man.... Take a stand and hit them where it hurts the most, "The Pocket Book!" Let them know this sort of stuff is not acceptable, and they can always replaced.
Karma's a b@tch
They are not the first, nor the last workplace to be accountable for their rude actions...
LET EVERYONE KNOW THE NAME of COMPANY, and PERSONALLY WHAT THEY SAID, and DID!!!!
Managers aren't allowed to threaten anyone. Either go down the tribunal route, or find a job elsewhere.
Because he knows that you and 95% of the rest of the population will take this shite instead of saying nice and quietly in his ear that you are going to wait outside for him at clocking off time and beat the crap out of the assshole and that you don't really give a bugger about loosing your job as it will be worth it to watch the SOB bleed.
Then follow it up!!!!
just give a bit back next time he decides that he can bully you, don't be scared of him. Threaten him with your rights!!! that should shut him up.
make a complaint about him - bullying is not acceptable in the work place
started back at work today and manager talks to you has if you are something he walked on and has on his shoe.
But considering that 80% pf the workforce are foreign it seems the culture is that they can do this and get away with it.
it is not just been told off but he threatens you with what he is going to do.
The Last Labour government have a lot to answer for with immigration that has created this environment.
