Muhammad Atta was the hijacker who took control of the plane that flew into the WTC that we know of. Conspiracy nuts keep saying he was a bad Pilot, he was not, he was actually a fine Pilot who eventually achieved a Commercial Pilots Licence. Am not sure of the dates he learn-ed to fly. He was confused using the aircraft radio on 911, you can hear recordings of him talking into the main aircraft radio when he thought he was talking over the intercom.
Actually they did learn to fly the planes they weren't interested in landing, at least that was the report.
