What are your thoughts on the little girl that survived?

She should be honored for her bravery in the face of carnage.

I recommend a tribute to the victims this way: An inscription of their names on the sidewalk outside the school with the phrase,"On December 14, 2012, these twenty students entered these doors to the kingdom of God". The alternative would be photos or etched faces in a park or on a memorial wall. Blended together, a memorial park, statue or plaque with their names on park objects ( bench, swing, slide, climbing bars, etc.) with dedication stones leading to the playground.

Did this actually happen? I wasn't sure if it was just a rumor. If this is true, wow that's a very smart and brave girl.. Could you imagine having to pretend to be dead during that.. without crying.. without screaming? without breathing?? I don't understand survivors guilt in her case. Do we expect a 6 year old to stand up to a gunman? No. The mother should feel lucky.

But I'm speaking hypothetically.. I haven't heard this story confirmed by a source.

Anyone have a source?

My thoughts? She's smart. She survived. Her mother should not feel guilt because her daughter survived, if anything she should be the happiest mother in the world. On a sad note, I seriously doubt the girl will ever be able to live a normal life. Seeing something so horrible at such a young age will no doubt scar her for a long time, if not for life,

Personally I'm amazed people aren't screaming blue bloody murder and hitting the streets protesting for change.

They'll do it if it's against Wall Street eg Operation Occupy; but seems the bigger outcry is against gun control and knee-jerk reactions than anything else. Jez what does it take.

My thoughts are I hope a solution is found, regardless of what it is so other peoples little girls don't have to play dead in her classroom to avoid being shot - that after all is the only fitting tribute that can come out of all this.

hmm i didn't read too much into the shooting. just the main details

but.. i don't think she could have done much else. she did what she had to. i'd expect her to be pretty scarred though, for a part of her life. i mean, you're in class with all the other people, other kids and they're makin all this noise and alive next thing you know everyone around you is lifeless, it's kinda unsettling.

if i saw that even at my current age i can't say i wouldn't be bothered by it, although being a 19 yo male i'd feel even more guilty for not trying to take on the shooter. i imagine, how or what i'd do if something like that happened you know. take him out asap

My thought of this little girl is she is very smart & a quick thinker. In a moment such as that most children would probably be so overwhelmed with fear, shock, adrenaline that they couldn't make a decision such as "playing dead" to save their life. She is very smart. I am sorry she has to live with this memory for the rest of her life. Her good friends were probably lying next to her on that floor. No one can blame her mother for having a child who survived. No one wanted this to happen so any survivor is a blessing. Bless Newtown.

I never heard that and I have been following the story all weekend. Even when the shooter shot each body 3 to 11 times?

There were some 7 kids found by the police hiding in the closet. The news didn't actually name who they were.

Only by the grace of a power greater than us. Very brave little person. God love her.

The little 1st grade girl that survived the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that survived by pretending to be dead while all of her other class mates were deceased. What are your thoughts on this brave little girl? How do you feel for her mother who is told to have "survivors guilt"?
