It wasn't a weather balloon - that was the cover story. It was a Project Mogul balloon, this being extremely top secret at the time. If you go back to original sources all of the descriptions of the crash site and debris are consistent with this.
Most of what has entered the popular culture about Roswell has been written since the 1980's when a couple of highly dubious ******* decided to resurrect the story to sell books. Because of that you now have all sorts of "witnesses" coming forward with alleged 30-40 year old recollections and even multiple crash sites.
It's all rubbish.
Go back to original sources and forget the hype that was added starting 30 years ago and you quickly realize the UFO nutters "best case" is a whole lotta nothin.
A weather balloon crashed. This is the correct answer no matter what others say.
Certainly not an alien spacecraft cos there would have been many guys who knew about it and eventually some of them would have talked , an alien spacecraft could not possibly be kept secret for 66 years
Most likely what crashed was a military proto-type jet plane with the test pilot crew.
Everyone has their own theory. We will probably never know, just as we dont know what crashed in Tunguska in 1908.

Like, I am SERIOUSLY confused on the whole story. Was it just a weather balloon that crashed, or was it an ACTUAL alien spacecraft containing extraterrestrial life? Now, I don't want a delusional/paranoid conspiracy theorist come and say to me "Dude, the whole thing was just hoaxed by our evil, evil, government who is brainwashing you through the media and is plotting to enslave and kill you!", I just want a simple, straightforward explanation of the whole situation of what REALLY crashed in Roswell.
