Police in Florida are not happy with the law, because of how much it has a negative impact on the state’s criminal justice system, since in many cases now a killer can invoke self defense and if the victim is dead, there may not be any way to dispute the killers memory of events.
The Sanford Police only bungled this case by not communicating the above to the community. I assume they don't want to continue the stampede of killings now attributed to "stand-your-ground".
The law should be repealed as soon as possible. There are enough ways to kill people without making it easier.
What the author has stated is true. The "knock-out game," played by groups of black teens against anyone who is non-black is gaining momentum in St. Louis, Missouri, Illinois and several other states. A recent report of another victim in St. Louis who will probably not survive his injuries like many of the other victims of this sickening black on white game prompted me to google the "knock out" game. There are enough articles about horrific injuries and death to make you sick. Why is there no national outrage over this? Why is Quannel X not asking black youth to stop these senseless hate crimes. This is not a game. I have no respect for black leaders who cry "hate crime" only for their own. What about the immigrant mother of 4 from Iraq who was bludgeoned to death in her home only because she was "from Iraq," her killers said. Why are the people who are most outspoken against "hate crimes" not in an uproar about this? The black youth playing "the knock out game" have stated their rules...to stomp to death anyone who is unsuspecting and white. Even when a shooting is not a "hate crime," in the case of George Zimmerman, irresponsible black leaders most notably Quannel X have made it into one. After awhile you have to wonder why someone who does nothing but fan the fires of racial division keeps getting so much media attention.
I think that before anyone plays any race card, ALL of the facts need to come out. I hate racism and so do the majority of people in this country; however I do like justice be it for Treyvon or Zimmerman.

in the first place zimmerman is not white. and he was defending himself from a violent attack when he shot the subject. which florida law allows. that is a law that should be in all 50 states.

This is not politics, although some people seem to think it is.

The witness reports that George Zimmerman was on the ground and Trayvon is on top of him punching him.
The witness says that George Zimmerman was screaming and yelling for help.
Police arrive and find Zimmerman bleeding on his face and the back of his head. He also has had grass stains on his back. All this confirms the story told by Zimmerman and the witness.
Police play the 911 tape for Trayvon Martin's father, who tells police that the voice screaming is not the voice of his son.
It bears note as well that Zimmerman, a "multiracial hispanic"
It is NEVER a "racial" issue when a black kills a white. When a hispanic kills a black- it's a racial issue, and white man's fault.
