Most mass killers do kill themselves. Sometimes they the simply don't have the time to do so....even at that the suicide part of the event is almost always baked into the entire chain of events. Almost all of these killers are found to be heavily infected with lead, mercury and cadmium in their systems*. In fact, most violent offenders are so infected. heave metal poisoning and brain tumors are common with these people.

With the illness that he had? Being touched, handcuffed and put into a jail cell would have been his worst nightmare.
I think he shot himself to avoid being arrested.
For him? That would have been sheer torture.
We don't know what made him mentally disintegrate that day and kill his mom and others, so there is no way to know why he killed himself. Mental illness is often difficult to understand, especially when the person is dead.
no one care about that shooting and were tired of hearing about it.
