April 26 1986, The reactor faced a unrepairable failure, The core lost all cooling water and went into melt down, this Was in Ukraine, At the time it was Ukrainian SSR which was under the direct authority Of the Soviet Union.ultimatly this took 500,000 worker to advert, who all died plus there family member and closed down a 50 Sq mile area that is still closed today .and will be closed for many generation to come, World wide death from the radiation leak is thought to have caused over a millions deaths .I watched a documentry on this You can do a fly over of this area and still see all the cars trucks and equipment that was suppose to be buried under concrete. But When it came down to the End there Was no one left to work., They were sick or dying. Yes it was that horrible.The worst Nuclear disaster on the Planet, The Japanese Reactor is presently destroying fish and eco systems all the Way to our Coast lines.Why folks pay No attention is beyound Me. The DDC released a warning severel months ago NOT to eat Salmon caught off the West coast. or any fish for that matter.
It was.....in USSR Russian Ukraine.....then a 'province' ....of Soviet Russian Empire. After the Soviet Nuclear Disaster disaster.... the, Ukraine....got it's independence (1991) and by world treaty (1997), it's 'supposed' independence.
Way back in history.......Russia by military force took 'Ukraine' in the 1700's and 1800's....as imperial empire.
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Ukraine was one of those republics, governed under the iron hand of the centralised government in Moscow (which has been the capital of Russia since Dec. 26th 1991).

But I know for now it is Ukraine, but Headlines Even I believe Read "Kiev Russia" was effected
