The SUV got off the highway and onto a surface road, where he was eventually stopped due to traffic. Unable to go anywhere, the riders caught up to the SUV. Another rider smashed in the driver's side window and dragged the driver out to beat him. Then the cops arrived and the riders scattered.
Fortunately the driver of the SUV wasn't hurt too badly. His wife and child were unharmed.
The rider that got run over is paralyzed from having his spine broken in two places.
Due to the head-cam footage that one of the riders posted on the internet, the driver of the SUV is not being charged, however, the police are interested in talking to as many of the riders as possible - especially the ones who were involved with the actual assault on the driver.
It is unknown what purpose the bikers had for surrounding the SUV. Maybe just to intimidate them? However it doesn't matter. The bikers were clearly acting in an irresponsible and threatening manner. The SUV driver has the right to defend himself, using lethal force if necessary. And that's exactly what he did. The paralyzed rider is lucky to be alive. Maybe instead of serving time in jail he can talk to other riders personal responsibility and traffic safety.
A large motorcycle group (300 motorcycles or so) tried to go to some sites in NYC, but were blocked by the police because they didn't have permission. So they rode around town for awhile, eventually surrounding a SUV. I don't know what happened exactly, but then the driver of the SUV became frightened and bolted; mowing down several motorcycles as he sped away. This made the cyclists angry, and they followed the SUV. The SUV crashed, and the cyclists grabbed the driver and beat him while his wife and children looked on in horror. The driver survived, and some cyclists were arrested for assault.
Let me add one thing to Pooh Bear who did cover this pretty well.....the SUV when stopped by the bikers had it's tires slashed by one or more bikers! This puzzles me on WHY did the bikers stop and slash this innocent family's tires? What was there motive here? This is a question I would ask the bikers.
If a group of bikers stopped our car and slashed our tires I would get the hell out of there....just like that man did.
If a jury finds anything different they are crazy. The wife was on the phone calling the cops but they could never have gotten there fast enough to help them.
FACT: The biker thugs were 100% in the wrong.
FACT: The honorable gentleman driving the SUV was 100% in the right.

Can someone please explain to me carefully how the confrontation started and how did it end? What happened in the beginning? Who started it? Who got in trouble? Who were the ones that got hurt?
