Don't regard the lottery as gambling. There is no skill with a lucky dip. Many people look to the lottery as a possible pension pot. £1 or £2, is better than a scratch card.
Its not acceptable for me and never will be. When I was a boy all games of "chance" were illegal. The Lottery would have been illegal too. The football pools were allowed as they were regarded as a game of "skill"
The lottery are an easy pathway to harder types of gambling, and like smoking and Alcohol,it ruins lives.
Because after prizes, expenses and money towards educations is paid, they only pay out about 20% of what theyt ake in and they don't have to tell you where the rest of the money goes.
It is seen has"clean Gambling" but is gambling all the same.
The same people would not i am sure walk into a bookies and bet on a horse or football game etc.
And because it is so accessible it us easier to do.
It is time anyway to have a debate about the lottery and it is not going to become a way of life for me anymore and i just like a robot i buy a lottery ticket.
Oh by the way was it a shock for Syndicates this Friday who now have to pay double their stake money?
