Blimey, imagine that. Military planes flying around an air force facility!
More than likely it's just a military exercise.
I live near a base as well, and thursday nights are when they hold their night landing practices. So we get to listen to various large cargo planes buzzing overhead as they approach the base...touchdown for a second, then take off, circle around, and do it all over again.
Where abouts you live mate? I had few power cuts too but didnt see/hear any choppers

We Brits use this as well..theres always something going on, we've been on amber alert for years...
Sometime coincident things like these happen .
Ok so I'm sitting here visiting family and all of a sudden our power shuts off and literally 2 minutes after like 6 helicopters have flown the area. We have also seen blacked out cars and RAF jets flying over. The house I'm in is in a rural area not far from an Air Force facility. This is so weird it's as if their all reacting to something big, I think the Koreans are nuking us :).
