I believe this is the case you are refering to. Looking at it I am sure most members will feel they are not able to agree with you in this case. If this is not the case I regret it.
A police officer is aquitted of manslaughter after a man dies through being struck with a baton, but allowed to resign with his pension intact. A long serving police officer has to control an obnoxious teenager, who has no respect for the law. This police officer is then accused of being over zealous in his control and subsequently fired with the loss of his pension. Time was when the teenager would have had a clip round the ear to keep him in line, now we pussyfoot around them.
Ok, sometime it does seem as if the police go in hard, but mostly this is not without reason due to the circumstances. I just think in this case the punishment of being fired was well out of order, and he should be re-instated with perhaps a warning. What do others think?
