You know, the history of almost any day of the year is full of battles, assassinations, discoveries, and so on. Kings' and queens' coronations, discovery of new places, etc. etc.. But you seem to have been born on the one day in all of history when nothing special happened. I've been poking around on the web for a half hour trying to come up with interesting things without much success.
There are things from history. November 5th is Guy Fawkes day, When the British celebrate a plot a 1799 plot to blow up the king and parliament. Or rather the foiling of that plot. As the poem goes:
Remember, remember, the 5th of November
The Gunpowder Treason and plot ;
I know of no reason why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
'Twas his intent.
To blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below.
Poor old England to overthrow.
By God's providence he was catch'd,
With a dark lantern and burning match
November 5th is also the day Roy Rogers was born (1911). He was a famous cowboy actor.
The journal Nature publishes a genetic study showing compelling evidence that Thomas Jefferson fathered a son, Eston Hemings Jefferson, by his slave Sally Hemings.
In 1969 the first episode of Monty Python Flying Circus aired on the BBC.
In 1942 the battle of El Alamein was fought. This was a tank battle that kept the Axis from seizing the Suez Canal. Rommel lost to Montgomery, saving the canal and changing the course of the war.
That's about all I can come up with.
Not the same year however, on November 5, 1994 George Foreman became the oldest Boxing Heavyweight Champion of the world.
