I've been wondering about that for quite some time now, they did do a show on the whole story last year it was either on Dateline NBC or 48 hours Mysteries detailing the story and the number of victims found they had a couple of people of interest but nothing else was said about it ,also Nancy Grace and Jane Valez Mitchell did do some shows on the story maybe at their site you could find more info go to HLN News type Long Island serial killer.
One thing I imagine the Monster must have changed dumping grounds after the whole story getting out I feel so bad for the families of the victims and hope so much for this abomination of a CREATURE gets his due justice and soon I'm sure the police are still working the case because this person is a serial killer and he will surely do it again you can count on it ! that's if he's not dead or in jail , but I betcha he's out there!
Not yet, at least as far as we know. It's certainly possible that he was already caught for something else, and hasn't been connected to the Gilgo Beach murders.

People here in the UK are very much in the dark on this subject. So apologies. And I hope whoever is responsible for these dreadful crimes is caught soon and receives the punishment they so deserve. My heartfelt sympathies go out to those suffering because of this great and terrible sadness.
