Osama bin Laden was angry about the US involvement in the First Iraq war. The Saudis picked the Americans to drive the Iraqis out of Kuwait, and bin Laden had wanted to raise his own army and do it himself. Feeling slighted, he plotted revenge, and the events of 9/11 were the result.
