It's because people idealize the dead, there's 10 living examples of people that did similar, and often even more influential, more important things, but because they didn't die, you grew 'familiar' with their contribution, and don't notice it anymore.
Bob Dylan is a great example, compared to John Lennon, he did nearly the exact same things, and was a lot more influential for doing them(Dylan is even a known inspirator for Lennon), but he didn't die,he's still performing, so he just faded to the background, where you clearly remember John Lennon.
The same goes for all the others, the thing is, you say LEGENDS, but you really mean ICONS, and the difference between the 2 is, that Legends are about content(which is often forgotten by the majority), and ICONS are about image(which is why the dead tend to remain famous).
Famous people have no higher risk of dieing young than the rest of the population.
Dude I asked the same question on here haha
calm down buddy. everything is fine.
It seems in life anybody who's been great or legendary has died young or premature. For example to name a few famous people at least that I know. Ernie Davis(1st African American to win heisman trophy) died at 23. Steve prefontaine- runner who died at 24. John F. Kennedy. John Lennon. Dr. Martin Luther king jr. -Gandhi( wasnt that young) Tupac-Lou Gherig-etc. it seems to me that all these people died prematurely. It seems to be a pattern in people who stand up for something they believe in are murdered. Or the ones that are great in music or sports die young before they reach their prime. And people are fascinated with these people because they wonder what could have been if that person was still alive today. What do you think?
