England no longer rules the world like it once did and it's a very small country. The oil guys have the power now. Immigration isn't bad if it's done well, unfortunately in England I think it's a failed social experiment.
I noticed some time ago that the British are becoming more Americanized, I guess it's the influence of music and films. When I was younger the British made the best TV shows, now they try to copy the American style. It's happening in my country too. I don't mind Americans cept they seem to think that money is more important than anything else...
I would bet, the majority of Americans you see or 'hear' are either tourists or those who are there temporarily (up to two years) for educational purposes or job placement/transfers. More importantly, I doubt Americans are the least bit interested in changing your 'precious irreplaceable way of life.'
On the other hand, I agree, your concerns about immigration should be of concern but you're looking in the wrong direction. Your concerns should be with the many immigrants, assylum seekers, etc., coming from other countries such as India, Pakistan, even Somalia and others. When it comes to problems regarding immigration, Americans are the least of your current problems.
Trying? They did that as a result of WW2 when they sequestered so many of the assets of the UK to help them fight the Germans and the Japanese. The UK had to pay for the weaponry to fight the Nazis and the USA got all of the benefits. The world's a very unfair place.
What is happening is reverse colonisation and just like the original colonialism it is't particularly nice for those being colonised and having their cultures trashed.
Nations rise and they fall and in between are periods or turmoil such as we are enduring now
you have based this question on nothing more than hear say and rumours, where are the facts why don't you tell us the numbers of Americans that have come to the UK in the last 10 years, i bet its less than 150.000.
you bang on about loss of this and that and how you do not like changes well a country that does not change is stagnant, its dead
yes the UK is changing it always has been and always will be but so is the world
I keep seeing the word 'smart' being used in advertising, which is an American word ( well they like to say it a lot). I know what you mean, as I stood at a bus stop the other day and there were 7 people there all talking in their own language, and I was the only English person there. I am also beginning to hear American accents in the street and on buses. There is nothing wrong with controlled immigration, but I think we are beginning to feel swamped.
We are all migrants one way and another, we all came from Africa - as it happens very few USA citizens migrate to the UK. They get here because employers cannot find adequate brits to do the job.
Trying? They succeeded years ago. Just so the numb nuts in our society can get away with crass spelling/grammar and weird names for everyday objects.
Easy and morally cheap down-market lifestyles - sh*t food, Fantastic!
If you travelled around the U.K. you would see that the concept of mass immigration is a myth. You are talking about urban areas where people with black or brown skin live. They are mostly 3rd
generation British people with British passports. And exactly what is the britishness you are afraid of losing - drunkeness, eating rubbish food, watching crap television?
with all the mass immigration into britain in this era, the forced multicultural policy. someone told me in a past immigration question that many u.s migrants come here, its astounding the amount that do.
and just in my town in the north uk over the years, ive overheard ' quite a few ' u.s accents around me in shops, supermarkets, post offices etc......which made me wonder and why.
why then are many people from the u.s migrating here? do they think we want them, when we already have a gigantic problem with mass immigration that is changing the face of britain forever?
and along with the multicultural society, combined with all the u.s people migrating here apparently ( according to one answer ) are they trying to americanize our once great britain ?
im sickened by this mass immigration topic at the moment, i feel at a loss and cant get over the country i love and how fast its changing forever...our precious 'irreplaceable ' way of life.
