And now a tax on toasties and cooked chicken?

wot will these idiots think of next maybe the size of your lungs then tax the air u breathe

The arguement is that if you tax Fish and chips, which are cooked and kept warm, then all food prepared like that should be treated the same. A preferable solution would be to scrap the tax on take aways, but with a huge deficit to pay and an even huger obesity epidemic looming, that was never going to happen.

Well it's simple government logic...Have a national lottery that rakes in millions but let some greedy foreign company reap the benefits rather than make it a government asset and draw in a huge revenue, tax companies in every way possible so that they go out of business and all you have left is foreign owned companies who pay sh*te wages and send their profits back home, let in millions of European workers so that our own have no work and therefore the unemployment benefit bill increases massively year upon year, puts a strain on the NHS, schools and services.Pay billions into the European union every year though no one really knows what that money is for and then blame the previous government for leaving the country in a mess.Makes perfect logical sense to any politician and their hard line supporters to tax the public on anything and everything possible,we'll probably all be chipped soon and charged footpath tolls for walking because lots of us will have to do that as the price of peterol is out of hand

I don't like tax but then again you can still buy a sandwich and toast it at home - you can cook chicken there too - the supermarkets should give us a discount for not having to cook the food as well

Well I am safe there I always make my own toasties and cook my own chicken....but you made me laugh regarding the size of your lungs and taxing the air we breathe....it really isnt funny though...you shouldnt be giving them any ideas.... they are idiots I agree.

VAT is applied to goods that are considered luxuries - or to put it otherwise foods that are not a necessity.

If you think cheese toasties and ready-cooked chicken are a necessity, you really need to take another look at your diet.

takeaway food is not necessary. we can, and i do, live without it. so just dont buy it. their should be a tax on fizzy drinks to because they are a major cause of obesity

edit@ yorrik. its been a long time since i read such a load of rubbish as youve just spouted.kids didnt go hungry through lack of milk. they usually threw it away as it was either warm and curdled from being left in the sun, or it was too cold to drink. the only people who cared about school milk were the milkmen.

I'm still waiting for the tax to go on food in general - VAT of 20% on our food bill. Bound to happen, sooner or later.

Britain used to have a cheap food policy and then, along came the evil dagger witch, Margaret Thatcher, who as Minister of Education withdrew the free school milk from our school children, causing many to go hungry and end up with poor health. At the same time the British dairy industry was thrown into chaos, many losing their livelihoods forever.

She got rid of the Milk Marketing Board which gave dairy farmers a guaranteed price for their milk.

She got rid of the Potato Marketing Board which gave farmers a guaranteed price for their spuds.

and etc.

The Tories, those lovers of greed and capitalism are the root cause of all of our problems.

But don't blame me, I've never voted for them. And as for that crowd called the Lib/Dems, all they are interested in is having a bit of political power. Take my advice Clegg old son, enjoy it while it lasts because come c5th May 2015 you and your lot will be up for the chop. Blood will flow and heads will roll, but you don't believe that and carry on kidding yourself that the people love you.

Wrong, not even your mum loves you now.

When we go to the restroom, how many squares of toilet paper can we use? Do we need to keep a log on this, and send it in with our taxes, how much do we get taxed. I am going to put a cup in my bathroom, anyone using my bathroom can drop a nickel in this cup, do you guys think this will cover it? Thought about using newspaper, since that is already taxed, but it will leave a black streak.

Whatever it is they will get away with it, begging the question who are the bigger idiots the Government for thinking it up or us for paying it without a squeak?

Again!

That's all part of the "pasty tax", it was not limited to pasty's

Hmm taxing breathed air, that could work...

wot will these idiots think of next maybe the size of your lungs then tax the air u breathe

Haha, yes what will be taxed next, this country is becoming a joke.
