If you watch just about any science-fiction TV show or movie you'll see several examples of futuristic technology that we could use for inspiration.
Let's take an easy one: Star Trek.
The characters in Star Trek don't even think about most of the technology they use yet any one of these would have huge impacts on our lives if they were to be invented today:
* Warp Drive. Without some form of faster-than-light travel, we can't realistically think about trying to reach other planets.
* Matter Transporter. It takes 12 hours to fly from LA to Tokyo. Now imagine being able to make that trip in under a minute.
* Tricorder. Able to read your vital signs as well as detect a variety of abnormalities without having to draw blood or use lengthy chemical tests. It's like having an entire hospital's lab wing in the palm of your hand.
* Holodeck. Creating a realistic, immersive virtual world complete with solid objects and even people you can interact with.
* Universal translator. Able to translate any language into your native language - even those of aliens the translator has never encountered before.
In fact, several of the show's gadgets have been the inspiration for real life inventions.
The taser was inspired by the handheld phaser gun. Both use electrical energy to incapacitate, but not kill, the target.
Flip-phones used the design of the old communicators that Kirk and crew used on their show.
In Star Trek it's pretty common to see the crew using tablets with touch screens for processing reports or reading other documents.
Star Trek also features computers you can command simply by talking to it...much like the system in some cars that can be used to play music, find a restaurant or make a phone call.
Technology will advance to beyond our comprehension. Look at 1993 then look at 2013. A 20 year difference and technology advanced a lot. By the year 3000 well be so advanced it would blow our minds.
Technology is always advancing
Eventually Too much Tech? meaning too much power of electricity the world can only handle so much.
If UFOs can get to us but we can't get to them, we still have a lot to learn.
