Why is it impossible to go back in time?

I know with the correct technology its possible to go forward into time, but why is going back impossible

I don't know where you get the idea with the correct technology one could go forwards in time, what technology is this then?

If we could go faster than time (which is impossible because we have mass) then it is theorised we could go back in time, this is on the principle that as one gets near to the speed of light times slows down, so going faster than time it would start to go backwards?

Going forwards has not even a theory, it has some brilliant films in the 'Back to the future' series but no theory in reality.

Richard Feynman somewhere describes the arrow of time, however it is not in 'Surely you must be joking Mr.Feynman.' which is a good read anyway.

This is the desultory Wiki entry but isn't very good.

I had even forgotten it was Arthur Eddington who coined the phrase.

We are stuck here in our present time, that is it, and it only moves in one direction in this universe.

That depends on what you interpretation of time/space is. In some interpretations it is possible, but as a continuous time-line will probably be under the constant influence of quantum uncertainty then that past may not be the one that we have experienced.

Come on wake up. I answered that tomorrow. Pay attention.

Oh by the way you don't need technology to go into the future. Just wait. ...... There you are.

Because if you changed something fundamental it could have serious consequences for the present time.

Imagine if you went back in time and killed your own Grandfather, would you also disappear because you can`t have been conceived.

And how do you know it's possible to go forward in time (other than as normal time passes)?

As for going back in time.....look up "Grandfather paradox"

Haven't you asked this question before? I think it was next week. Try again last year.

Because it just ain't happened yet..childish kind of question and wrong forum.

We're too lazy
