So, here's the real rub for people.
Did Zimmerman go back to his truck?
See, in the testimony and against the 911 call info, Zimmerman followed Martin in his truck, then got out of his truck, followed Martin on foot, then was advised to stop following him, which he claims he did and returned to his truck. At this point Martin was no longer in sight, and no longer proximal to Zimmerman.
If this is true then Martin stalked Zimmerman, and attacked him from behind, knocked him to the ground, pinned him and started bashing his head into the concrete.
This is consistent with the evidence and eye witness accounts. Zimmerman was clearly justified in shooting Martin and, all due respect to Nikko - if you are afraid you keep running, generally until well after someone has stopped chasing you. Even if you circle back to see if they are still after you, when you see that they aren't you let it go.
Now, if you DON'T believe Zimmerman went back to the truck then you have continued pursuit and all kind of scenarios come out. The problem is? None of the evidence or testimony supported that, and in fact, flatly contradicted it.
Thinkingblade
Edit: Oddly enough, no it isn't. If Zimmerman had actually done something to legitimately convince Martin that his life was in danger, threaten him, brandish his gun, that sort of thing, then Martin could legally attack Zimmerman as a form of self defense. However, if Zimmerman retreated, and then Martin attacked from behind, then it's assault, not self defense.
I don't think you're looking at it from both perspectives. Imagine walking home at night as a teen and being followed by someone more than 10 years older than you. It's pretty scary when you think about it. If I was in that position, I would not just keep walking and wait to be kidnapped/raped/murdered. I would fight back because I didn't know the strangers intentions.
Edit: He was trying to get away. Trayvon hid in a bush and Zimmerman came up to him and that was when the fight happened. He didn't "immediately turn around and start trying to kill him".You are obviously uninformed about the facts of the case. And besides, if you're in what you think of as a "life or death situation", people act impulsively. And I think both Trayvon and Zimmerman are guilty of acting impulsively that night. The difference is only one of those people came out of the altercation with his life.
Edit: So Trayvon shouldn't have fought back because he didn't have a weapon and the other guy did? So if you have a son or daughter who is being followed by a strange man you're going to tell them to just sit there and wait for the person to come up to them so they can "talk it out"? No! The reasonable thing to do would be to punch them in the nose or something! That would be my first instinct if I were being followed at night.
The issue about what was the right thing to do is sadly lost in a mess of alleged racism. When I first heard about the incident I didn't look into it and try to see what happened. I just heard it on the radio in passing. Then only one day later posts all over Facebook from friends and friends of friends that said justice for treyvon martin. I decided to look it up and see what had happened just out of curiosity. Nothing really stands out that says that he should have gotten shot but certainly he wasn't just the innocent victim he was made out to be. Then about a week or so later there was a post on Facebook about an 18 month old baby who had gotten shot in the face and killed because a black guy wanted his mommies money. But it goes on later in the post that no one will remember his name. This innocent baby shot in the face. Because he was the wrong color for anyone to remember him or to try and make the man who killed him get punished. He was a white baby who got shot by a black man. I'm not racist. But I agree. When there's a crime on a black person unless its another black person commiting the crime. Its posted all over the news. Can anyone without looking it up. Tell me what that little white baby's name was that got shot in the face. Defenseless. innocent. I bet no one can. All my friends agree with me. Yes even my black friends. That this countries calls out racism to frequently when its usually never the case. And its been a while since I saw that post about that poor baby. And I only saw it once. There is no one yelling and making a scene. Why aren't the white people calling out racism. Why aren't Mexican and Asian and Canadian. Why aren't we calling racism when a color different from our own kills our loved ones. Why are black people. Not all. Certainly not implying all. But why does it always end up like this.
Because People tend to View Situations like These through the Prism of Their OWN Biases & Emotionalism. So what They "Realize", is really NOT having anything to Do with the Realities in the Martin/Zimmerman Case- at All. But with where THEY are "Coming From"- in the Way THEY see the World...
Do we have to keep reacting this case till the end of time ? No-one can know exactly what happened on that night ? The jury found Zimmerman not guilty of all charges. We have to accept that. Civilillized people have no other option. Try and move on.
You are correct - Treyvon had a history of bad behavior - he was from a broken home
and had a lot of psychological problems.
wrong during his interaction with zimmerman? Wherever I go, I only see people saying about how zimmerman shouldn't have been following trayvon martin and that he should have never gotten out of his truck. And that zimmerman was wrong for killing an innocent black kid. Everyone seems to only look for the wrong doings of zimmerman but nobody notices the wrong doing of trayvon at all. When I first analyzed the story, I couldn't understand the reason behind why trayvon was attacking zimmerman in the first place. I mean someone could be following you, but you don't have to try to kill them if they're not even threatening you. If he didn't attack zimmerman, there would be no chance of any shootings at all. If someone was suspecting me and following after me, I wouldn't attack or try to kill them. I think this is also the most important part of the story since this was the main reason for cause of the shooting. I'm also not biased or racist. Am I the only insightful or perceptive person on here? or am I too much of a deep thinker?
