If someone broke into my house, I wouldn't have a clue whether they have any intent of killing me, and it isn't worth the chance to find out. That person would be held at gunpoint as well.
You use this story to point to Americans as crazy and violent, yet nobody fired a shot. A man broke into a house, found himself at gunpoint, and then he ran outside and called police while the people who were holding the guns also called police. To sum this up: citizens stop burglar and then call police. How is this crazy or violent? Crazy or violent would be if the homeowners had fired 50 rounds into the guy, but instead they did exactly what they were supposed to do - protect themselves and then call police.

Next time, use an actual violent encounter with no legal justification for your argument. This one makes you look like you are just anti-American.
If a burglar is in your house at night, he is no friend. If the law and other peoples property mean nothing to him, he is a constant danger to everyone. People work hard for their 'things'. If some scum bag thinks he can just walk in and help himself to your stuff, society is better off without him. He should be shot on sight, and not just in his stupid leg. Thank God for guns in this day and age. Especially for the weaker ones, including women and older people. The gun is the great equalizer. The main danger however is your own government. As we see every day all over the world. Obama is preparing to take everything from every body except from his cronies. He is no better than Osama.
A long time ago, Nort, the Founding Fathers knew that Freedom would lead to higher crime. Yet, they gave us Freedom anyway. One can not weigh the value of Freedom with guns. I will never willingly give up my Rights. Self defense is a basic right of all humans, everywhere. Are you saying that a criminal has a right to take what he wants, to do what he wants?? The U K took the right of self defense away from its subjects. Crime grew by 400% in the first month. What a surprise! There's not enough cops to put one on each street corner. And what do you do when cops commit crimes?
OMG... Are you nuts! The "VICTIMS" of this crime held the "CRIMINAL" at gunpoint until the police arrived. Wow... How violent is that? They were set to shoot him (in the legs, BTW) if he made a run for it.

it was obvious they where in no danger for their lives, and they where set to murder the criminal. and they would have gotta away with it as self defence. in normal countries their is such a thing as a citizen arrest, not citizen execution.
