Basically I'm writing about criminology at school, but the only one's I can think of is The Kray Twins, and Charles Bronson ....

any others?

I don't know exactly what time-scale you are interested in so I will include notable British criminals from different eras.

Jack The Ripper - Victorian era serial killer who murdered prostitutes in Whitechapel London in the 1880's. He was never identified but remains one of Britain's most notorious killers.

Dick Turpin - Famous 1700's highwayman who was caught and executed in York.

Sir Henry Morgan - Famous pirate and privateer from the 17th century.

Ronnie Biggs - Took part in the famous "Great Train Robbery" in 1963, he was arrested and escaped from prison.

Howard Marks - Notorious cannabis trafficker. At one time was the largest cannabis importer in the world. He was an Oxford graduate and his life is remarkable in many ways. His book Mr. Nice is a great read.

John McVicar - Convicted armed robber famed for his intellectualism. Portrayed in the film McVicar by Roger Daltry from The Who.

Lenny Mclean - Famous gangster and bare-knuckle fighter. Famed for winning several high profile bare-knuckle fights.

Peter Sutcliffe - The Yorkshire Ripper, he killed 13 women in Yorkshire.

Ian Brady and Myra Hindley - The Moors Murders who killed five children in the 1960's and buried the bodies on Saddleworth Moor. They sexually abused some of the children before committing the murders. They also photographed some of the victims and created audio recordings of torure and abuse on some of their victims.

Dennis Nilsen - He is regarded as the British Jeffrey Dahmer. He murdered 15 young men between 1978 and 1983. He engaged in necrophilia with some of his victims as well as mutilating their bodies.

Colin Ireland - Known as The Gay Slayer, murdered five homosexual men in London.

Beverly Allit - a 23 year old student nurse, was convicted in 1993 of 4 counts of murder, 4 counts of attempted murder and 8 counts of grievous bodily harm. While on duty in the children's ward in her local hospital, she tried to kill at least 23 children by injecting them with insulin and potassium, choking, breaking ribs and asphyxiation. Allitt suffered from the rare Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy, which made her want to kill children in order to be the center of attention. Beverly Allitt now serves 13 life sentences in the Ramworth Maximum Security Hospital for the Criminally Insane.

Derrick Bird - Responsible for the Cumbria Shootings. He was a taxi driver who went on a shooting rampage in 2010 killing 12 people.
