I was at work. I worked as a security concierge at that time and I had a TV right next to my desk which I was allowed to watch on duty.
At that time of day, I would usually have the TV off and I would be reading/studying while listening to Howard Stern on the radio. But on that particular day, I had the TV and the radio on at the same time. I was watching the Today show when Bryant Gumbel interrupted an interview and cut into the footage. So I saw the whole thing from start to finish.
After the second tower collapsed, I left my desk, went into a bathroom and locked the door. I was crying a little bit and didn't want anyone to see my face.
I was in a hotel SW of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, renovating a bathroom.
I was the only one who was not at all surprised at the events of 9/11, because I had been expecting something like this one day.
I was very surprised about the size of this attack though.
But not as surprised as I was when I learned about how lax security was at American airports.
I mean, it is not as if they had never carried out a terror attack against you before is it ?
And planes have been hijacked for many decades now all over the world.
It has been happening for years, yet you let your airlines continue to bullsh!t you about how increasing security will damage their profits.
Well, their pathetic greed really helped the 2700 people who died didn't it ?
So why haven't these same airlines been accused of some of the blame ?
Because they were totally callous and irresponsible with their selfish behaviour.
Airport security in western Europe has been incredibly tight for 20 years or more !
During that time not a single plane has been taken over.
That is why I was surprised, 'cos everyone here knows that your country was the biggest target of all to these terrorists!
At home, eating breakfast ,watching it all happen on TV..
The news people were talking about a plane crashing into one of the towers .
I remember saying : How can you fly into a tower with all that space around it.
Then I watched the second plane flying into the other tower and I said: oh my God, this is not an accident . After I watched the towers disintegrate I was speechless.
I was in the basement of the White House telling the Vice President about a plane heading directly toward Washington DC. When the plane was 10 miles away, I asked him if the order still stands. He said, Of course the order still stands. Have you heard anything to the contrary? A few minutes later, a plane hit the Pentagon.
I was out in the garden and my grandmother told me that a plane crashed into the empire state building again. Since she had a touch of dementia, I thought she was having a flashback so I ignored her. And then I saw those fighter jets fly over and knew something was up, I live in Massachusetts.
