No it was not. I don't hold with any kind of conspiracy theories. I saw it happen as it happened on the TV in England.

No it was not done by the Americans.
The BBC were TOLD shortly before hand. It was already too late as the time difference meant the planes had already hit.
The BBC did NOT broadcast the falling of the towers before it happened. Timestamps prove the live feed was AFTER the towers both fell, whoever came up with that conspiracy cant work out timezones correctly.
The drill in place had been planned 18 months earlier but was postponed twice. It was not just decided at 9am to hold an air drill.
The CIA building was not brought down by thermite controlled explosions, you can look on youtube for earthquakes and see exactly the same thing multiple buildings drop.
The towers had not been drilled previous day. Since the attack February 1993 it was a regular occurrence for the towers structure to be inspected, it was well known both were weakened. The same reports showed just how close it had come to falling, it also discovered both towers suffered wear and tear. They then increased maintenance.
Evidence exists from previous engineer reports saying both towers required major maintenance, so its no suprise they could not cope with 2 passenger planes hitting them
Thousands of people died because some complete **** decided to do something so horrendous it has no words to describe it even years later.
There is just too much evidence now that suggests an inside job: the fact that all THE WRECKAGE WAS SHIPPED ABROAD as soon as possible, the fact that even ROLLS ROYCE themselves have said that the engine recovered were not the type of engine used on the type of plane (b757) that was said to be responsible. Israeli intelligence likely handled the bombs that blew up the towers (Zimm Shipping, Urban Moving Systems, computerized hi-jacking NORAD to give false signals to make sure fighter jets weren't scrambled), media made sure the story of Osama bin Laden and showing you Dancing Palestinians over and over was put out front and center, FBI handled the cover-up of evidence as they always do when serious crimes that are linked to the government, some US military were made to stand down.
So I do not believe that the terror bombings were orchestrated by the only Americans, because although some American individuals may have benefited, America as a nation did not benefit politically. Israel benefited and Netanyahu has openly bragged on several occasions about Israel benefiting from the 9/11 terror bombings and the Iraq war.

Captain is not being truthful when he claims that the BBC didn't broadcast a report that the WTC 7 collapsed before it happed.
The BBC did report that WTC 7 fell before it happened and BBC editors have admitted to it, but claimed that they couldn't explain how or why it happened. It was a very big deal and today there are still no answers.

9/11 Truthers don't do research. They stop looking for things when they find what reinforces their belief. Because they can not themselves think rationally and assemble a coherent, comprehensive hypothesis from many factors of information it stands that they can not comprehend rational arguments when presented to them. Thus they stay stuck in the mind trap of conspiracy belief.
The 9/11 Truth Movement is dead by the way. All summer long Richard Gage, the last big name still standing in Trutherdom spent $300,000 on a PR campaign to get 1 million protesters to show up at Times Square on the 12th anniversary and demand a new investigation.
About 100 people showed up.
And that's the best 9/11 Truth has got.

Baron Semedi in a later answer proves my point. His "evidence" consists of just 4 points, 4 anomalies, not a comprehensive analysis of the days events. And he happens to be completely, 100%, irrefutably wrong about all 4. He could easily discover that for himself - would take maybe 10-15 minutes total - but he doesn't.
No it wasn't, and I have yet to see one single piece of evidence that it was. And yes, I have looked at the "evidence", at some length.
The 9/11 truthers seem to be mostly kids. They are not old enough to know how society operates, what motivates people, how large organisations work, how to critically evaluate evidence, or much about science and engineering, which is why they are so easily taken in by the conspiracy theories. There also seems to be an element of camaraderie and rebellion to it which appeals to some people. Then there is the narcissistic pleasure of thinking you have access to information others don't have.
Comments on the Daily Mail website are of no consequence.

The air traffic controller transcripts were destroyed before being examined.

The only evidence left is the complete CCTV footage of the Pentagon attack, which the FBI refuse to release as it belongs to a private business.

9/11 could have been avoided. Lack of communication between our intel sources was the cause. A lot of people knew about the plans to harm America.
It is reassuring to note that well over 99% of all Americans are sane and rational. This leaves much less than 1% who are paranoid, deluded, and demented conspiracy theorists. It keeps psychiatrists among the best paid of professions.
