Its horrible. I work at a day care in Tampa and I have a kid where Jeff, guy in sinkhole, is his uncle.
One never knows when and where the earth opens up. It is very unfortunate, but one needs to recognize the fact that FL at one time was all marshes.. Not ideal for habitation by people.
The soil is very porous, the underground aquifer (water table) if drained creates caverns which may collaps under the weight of homes above it...
It is unfortunate but that's reality...
The ground collapsed after the aquifer was drained. Happens all the time in Florida.
The sinkhole ACTUALLY swallowed him. Every-time I think about it I get chills, and tears in my eyes. It's like a science fiction horror movie.
@Luijzika -- my genuine condolences to that poor child! How awful! I know it has to be hard for the family! Let us just pray for them. They should know we're all behind them.
How did that happen? It's kind of scary ????! What's your opinion on this whole thing?
