1: 12/21/12 is the equivalent of 12/31/1999 for the Mayans. Their calendar isn't marking the end of the world, it's marking the end of their version of the millennium. Claiming the world's going to end on this date is like claiming the world should have ended on 12/31/2011 because that's when my Hello Kitty calendar ended.
2: Let's pretend for a second the preppers are right and something happens on that date to end the world. In my mind, the lucky ones will be the ones who get killed off immediately before they really know what hit them. An underground bunker may allow you and your family to live a few more years but then what? After the psychological torture of living isolated underground for 1-3 years now you've condemned them to a slow painful death by dehydration, starvation, injury, or illness.
3: And what happens when the sun comes up on 12/22/12 and nothing has happened? You've just put your family through psychological hell, brainwashed your kids that everyone in their school is dead and/or will come after them to steal supplies which is why they must be ready to kill. Now what? Hope you've been saving up for those psychiatrist's bills...
The Mayans never said it was the end of the world. They were amazing at plotting events using astronomy and were accurate with many other events, however they don't say what the ending of the calendar signifies. The Great Pyramid also has an internal calendar that plots Dec 21st 2012 as a very important date for the earth and it is also the date for the start of the 'Age of Aquarius'. Lots of things point to this date as being important and many people are becoming aware and awakened to all the unfairness and lies in the world and this date in Dec 2012 might be a turning point in consciousness for the human race. Best thing to do would be to love your family and friends and think of the greater good before yourself and we'll all be ok. This planet is being looked after, don't worry x
First off, the Mayan calendar ends on 12/21/12, which is correct. However, the mayan calendar didn't account for leap years. Since about 500 leap years have happened, we would've been dead for around a year if it was true.
